ELECTION CRITERIA FOR THE 2021 FEDERAL ELECTIONS

The Minorities Council of Germany prepares election touchstones for every federal election. These summarise the main expectations of the minorities and ethnic groups living and recognised in Germany regarding minority policy in the new legislative period.

The Minorities Council has also compiled election touchstones for the 2021 Bundestag elections. The thematic priorities summarise the expectations of minority policy in the 20th century.
The following table summarises the results of the first legislative period of the German Bundestag and refers to:

  1. The introduction of a right of action for umbrella organisations of national minorities and ethnic groups
  2. The inclusion of the protection of minorities in the Basic Law
  3. Added value of minorities for society
  4. Cooperation with parties of national minorities at federal level
  5. Federal Strategic Framework for Combating Antiziganism and Equal Participation of Sinti and Roma
  6. Reform of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG)
  7. European core values
  8. European Citizens’ Initiative Minority SafePack

We asked the following parties: CDU/CSU, SPD, Die Linke, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, FDP, AfD, VOLT, as well as their top candidates, what they think about minority policy. The AfD was the only party that did not respond.
